Why Flood Insurance for Your Home is Important

Making sure that your home is insured against flooding is more important in todays changing climate than ever before. There are more changes in our weather now and one year is very different to the last so ensuring that your belongings are insured is very important.

The UK has gone from having the warmest summer on record to the most rain ever recorded for three consecutive months. This has lead to not only flash floods but whole towns under water for weeks.

This has left homes and businesses in compete devastation with families having to start rebuilding their homes and businesses without customers and not being able to fulfill orders. Towns have been cut off and supplies of both water and electricity have been effected.

People are worried about health and livelihood but the government has has offered reassurance in the form of funds to help rebuild the towns and informing the insurance companies that they will pay out on policies where people have them.

It is common for people to have house insurance for their property but many see content insurance as not completely necessary and skip this to make a monthly saving. This in todays climate is a false economy. Imagine paying out tens of thousands of pounds to replace everything that you own inside your property compared to a few hundred to have peace of mind that you are covered should the worse happen.

Home Flood insurance is commonly known as Home Content insurance and it is no matter what people think important to make sure that you are covered just in case something should happen.

Here's To Your Health - Drinking For Your Good Health

Our body is made of mostly water which helps to keep it refreshed and hydrated. Fluids, especially water, carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells, remove waste matter and regulate the body's temperature.

And while fluid intake is so important to our health, about 500 ml of fluid can be lost a day due to perspiration and excretion. Furthermore, up to 4 liters a day can be lost during exercise in very hot conditions. Good hydration with a variety of fluids, therefore, is a means of providing an ongoing supply of fluids which our body needs. There are a number of healthful ways in which to hydrate the body and give it the fluids that it needs and some of those ways are discussed below.

Vegetable Juices

Freshly made vegetable juices are an excellent way to add fluids to your body. Drinking lots of fresh vegetable juices is also a great way to add vitamin C and a range of other nutrients to your diet. Because the majority of the vegetable is included in the juice, all of the health-giving components remain intact when you drink vegetable juices.

One of the most important benefits that one gains from drinking vegetable juices is the chlorophyll it contains. Chlorophyll, which is often referred to as the very blood of the plant, is the substance in vegetable juices that accounts for the green color. Moreover, chlorophyll is a marvelous healer to the body and not only helps to rejuvenate it but also helps the body to purify the blood, build red blood cells, and protects the body from cancer.

Vegetable juices are also abundant in enzymes as well. Called "the spark of life" by researcher and physician Edward Howell, a pioneer in enzyme study, enzymes help in almost every metabolic function of our body. Enzymes assist in the breakdown and digestion of our food, as well as help in weight loss, detoxification of the body, slowing down the aging process, building muscles and strengthening the immune system. Fresh juices are a tremendous source of enzymes. In fact, the fresher the juice the more potent and powerful the enzymes will be.

Green tea

Green tea is another good way to keep your body hydrated and to give your body the fluids it needs each day. According to a number of published studies, green tea contains a number of common antioxidants including vitamin E, vitamin C and vitamin A. Antioxidants are substances found in the food that we eat that protect the body from a variety of diseases including breast cancer, prostate cancer and a host of other diseases. Moreover, green tea has been shown to be about 200 times more powerful than all of the aforementioned vitamins. Furthermore, green tea helps to strengthen the immune system, increases the friendly bacteria in the intestines and prevents tooth decay.

water

Of all the benefits of the fluids mentioned formerly, nothing compares with the benefits of water. water is the very fluid of life - without which we would cease to exist in a very short time. water helps our body to digest food and absorb vitamins and minerals which come from our food. It aids in the detoxification of our blood, liver and kidneys. The very waste matter which we excrete everyday is carried out with the assistance of water. In fact, even our very energy level is greatly affected by how much water we drink. research shows that even a small drop in water levels in our body will cause a significant drop in our energy level. Although many doctors recommend 8 glasses of water per day, this is a case where more is better - especially if you are an active person.

In addition to water and other fluids mentioned above, there are many food sources that help to hydrate the body including fruits like watermelon, which is made of mostly water, oranges, grapes and grapefruit. Another good source of hydration and nutrition is SenSatiaFruit. Additionally, foods such as cottage cheese, soups, yogurt and carrots all contain a good amount of water as well.

Ten Symptoms Texans Should Not Ignore

Everyone in dallas, Houston and throughout the rest of texas feels an occasional symptom or two from flu, cold, allergy or whatever is going around. But, when the symptoms become persistent, they could even become life threatening. Individuals who feel chest or abdominal pain, or experience unexplained bleeding, should seek immediate medical care. There are other symptoms that are less well known which, if you develop them, you should seek immediate medical care. Here are 10 symptoms that you should not ignore:

1. unexplained weight loss
Experiencing a 5% weight loss in a month, or a 10% weight loss within 6-12 months, could be a symptom of a number of different conditions, including an over-active thyroid, depression, liver disease, cancer or other non-cancerous disorders which might interfere with how your body absorbs nutrients.

2. Persistent fever
Registering a persistent low-grade fever of more than 100.4 F should be evaluated if it lasts for a week or more. A low-grade fever can signal an underlying infection. Some cancers and other medical conditions can cause prolonged, persistent fever. A fever accompanied by violent chills, or higher than 103 F, should be evaluated right away.

3. Shortness of breath
Gasping for air or wheezing are medical emergencies. Causes can vary widely and can include asthma, heart problems, anxiety, panic attacks, or a blood clot in the lungs.

4. unexplained changes in bowel habits
Bowel habit changes may signal a bacterial or viral infection, inflammatory bowel disease or, at the extreme, colon cancer. Seek medical attention for any of the following:
-Severe diarrhea lasting more than two days
-Mild diarrhea lasting a week
-Constipation that lasts for more than two weeks
-Unexplained urges to have a bowel movement
-Bloody diarrhea
-Black or tarry-colored stools

5. Mental status changes
Changes in behavior or thinking may be due to infection, head injury, stroke, low blood sugar or medications. Immediate medical care should be sought for any of the following:
-Sudden or gradual confused thinking
-Disorientation
-Sudden aggressive behavior
-Hallucinations

6. New or more-severe headaches -- especially for individuals over the age of 50. Seek immediate medical attention for:
-A sudden and severe headache, often called a thunderclap headache, because it comes on suddenly like a clap of thunder
-A headache accompanied by a fever, stiff neck, rash, mental confusion, seizure, vision changes, weakness, numbness, speaking difficulties, scalp tenderness or pain with chewing. Causes for headaches considered medical emergencies may include stroke, blood vessel inflammation, meningitis, brain tumor, aneurysm or bleeding on the brain after head trauma.

7. Short-term loss of vision, speaking, movement or control
With these symptoms, minutes count because they indicate the possibility of a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Seek immediate medical attention for any of the following:
-Sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm, leg on one side of the body
-Sudden dimness, blurring or loss of vision
-Loss of speech, or trouble talking or understanding speech
-A sudden or severe headache
-Sudden dizziness, unsteadiness or a fall

8. Flashes of light
The sudden sensation of flashing lights may signal the beginning of retinal detachment. Seek immediate medical care to save vision in the affected eye.

9. Feeling full after eating very little
Feeling full sooner than normal after eating a meal, or feeling persistent nausea or vomiting for a week, might indicate possible gastrointestinal disorders, pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer or ovarian cancer.

10. Hot, red or swollen joints
These warning signs can indicate a joint infection, which requires emergency care to save the joint and prevent the spread of bacteria. Other causes could include gout or certain types of arthritis.

It's important for Texans, and everyone, to take care of themselves and to remember that part of your physical maintenance is being able to recognize certain symptoms, especially those that reoccur or don't go away.
